Happy February! January was a long, cold and snowy month and its looking like February will be just as cold and snowy! We will be talking even more about dinosaurs this month reading stories, learning the different names, pretending to be paleontologist, and so much more.
We will also be celebrating Valentine’s day on Wednesday, February 14. I sent a note home about the party last week that had the class list. If you would like to send anything in for the party please let me know and you can bring it in the day of or day before. You can also send in your child’s valentines anytime before the party. Don’t forget to send your child to school in outerwear appropriate for the weather. If it is warm enough ( above 32 with the windchill) we will be going outside to play. If your child isn’t feeling well please keep them home. Remember they must be fever free for 24 hrs without medicine. The flu is going around pretty thick and we are trying our best to keep everyone in the classroom healthy! :) Some fun things to do at home: *Make a meal together *Make puppets out of paper bags or socks and act out a fun activity. *Talk about all the people you love and why you love them. *Look for things that are red! Dates to remember! Feb 2: Early out 11:30 ( No PM Class) Feb 6: PTO meeting at 6 in OGS conf. room Feb 14: Late Start-9am Valentines Day Party! Feb 19: No School- Presidents Day! Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break!. I know I did, I became an aunt :) My sister and her husband had a little boy, Samuel William on Friday, December 22. He was definitely the best thing that happened over my break! Snow on Christmas day was a close second:)
This month we are going to talk a little about snow and all the fun things we can do in it as well as what we need to wear to stay warm in it. Even though its cold out side we will still get a chance to play in the snow by bringing it in the classroom. Along with all things snow we are also going to start talking about dinosaurs! This past week we voted on penguins or dinosaurs and dinosaurs won! We are going to talk about the different types, where they lived, what they were like, what they ate, and so much more! I can’t wait to dive into this fun theme! I know it is cold out but if it is above 32 degrees we will more than likely go outside for a little. Please make sure you send your child to school in a coat, mittens/gloves, and a hat. If you need any of these things let me know and I can help you get one. I know its 3 weeks into the new school year...I promise to do better! We have had so much fun the first few weeks of school. We got to meet new/see old friends, check out our new class pet, watch a caterpillar grow & make a chrysalis, and so much more! Check out all the photos of all the fun we have had! The morning boys were so excited when we went outside to find the "frosting" on everything! We walked around and looked at everything covered with frost. They wanted me to take pictures so that they could remember this day forever. While we were looking for frost we found some ice on the slides so we had some fun breaking the ice on the concrete too. I love how these kiddos can find the beauty and joy in the cold weather! We had so much fun celebrating Thanksgiving with the CARE class! We got to make our own cornbread, try a few different yummy Thanksgiving foods, and watch Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!
We had so much celebrating Halloween on Friday! Thank you to everyone who helped make our party a success!
Meet Goldie! He is the newest addition to our classroom! He is a Beta fish and he lives in a gallon sized mason jar with a live plant in it. The children are so excited to learn all about him! Today we learned that he likes to eat freeze dried blood worms and that he is not a fan of loud noises! The children are going to have the responsibility of helping me feed him on a daily basis...I know they are excited about it!
We are so excited it finally snowed! I thought it would be fun for the kiddos to make snow ice cream. We went and collected clean snow from outside and brought it in. We tasted the snow plain and talked about what it looked like, tasted like, etc. We then mixed all of the ingredients together and made ice cream. At first they were not too sure about it but once they tried it they loved it! Below is the recipe we used. Hopefully we can get some more snow so you can try it at home. Snow Ice Cream 4 cups snow 1 cup milk 1/4 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla mix and enjoy! Hello! Its been a little bit since I've posted on here. I hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! We have been very busy in the classroom learning about all things winter. For the next two weeks we are going to talk about penguins, the kids in the class were interested in them and so we decided to dig a little deeper and learn a little more about them. We are going to learn about where they are from, how they communicate, and so much more. We are also going to do some fun science projects in the next couple of weeks, one of them including making ice-cream in a bag. Please remember that if it is above 25 degrees with the windchill and not wet we will be going outside to play. Please send your child to school in weather appropriate clothing. Also, Please check your child's notebook and folder daily, I write in their notebooks daily to let you know what they did during the day. I also send notes home and some of their work they did at school. :) Below are a list of events and things in the area that you can do with your families! |
